Tour Itinerary

Sunday
Arrive into Pereira and check into one of the nicest hotels in the City. Meet later in the day to go over the weeks activities.

Monday
Morning shoot at a private refuge known to have several Manakin species, waterfowl, and birds that frequent lowland areas. In the afternoon, we’ll check into our lodge near Manizales which is an excellent bird location. I was able to photograph over 40 species when I stayed there last April. Sub Tropic Climate Zone.

Tuesday
In the morning, we’ll visit a well known location just outside of Manizales that features bird & hummingbird feeders as well as a trail to photograph birds in their natural habitat. The afternoon will be spent photographing around our hotel location. Mid Tropic Climate Zone.

Wednesday
Morning shoot in a reserve where we’ll be able to photograph a Mountain Toucan, Antpittas and Hummingbirds. After lunch, we’ll remain in the reserve to photograph mixed flocks that frequent the area. Mid Altitude Cloud Forest Climate Zone.

Thursday
Morning session at one of the best birding locations in Manizales. Multiple bird feeding stations + dedicated areas with hummingbird feeders. In the afternoon, we’ll check into our hotel near the Nevados National Park to photograph the stunning Buffy Helmetcrest and Rainbow Bearded Hummingbirds. High Cloud Forest Zone with elevations reaching 13k feet.

Friday
Morning shoot near the hotel. After lunch, we’ll drive to a remote farm adjacent to a Cloud Forest. This location is extremely diverse for such a small farm with an abundance of bird species to photograph. Mid Altitude Zone with an elevation of around 7,000 ft.

Saturday
Complete morning shoot with our guide at Friday’s location. In the afternoon, we’ll head back to Manizales and discuss the results of our adventure over dinner & drinks.
